Former Ekiti State Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest his colleague in Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.

Fayose, in his verified Twitter handle, made the demand in reaction to the reported EFCC  arrestof another colleague of theirs, Rochas Okorocha.

Amosun and Okorocha,  both believed to currently be outcasts in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday stepped down from office after years.

Fayose’s tweet read:

“Just reading that Okorocha was arrested by EFCC. True or not, we knew this day will come.
However, I welcome him to the EFCC Alumni & enjoin the commission not to look away from Amosun too.
While I encourage them to surrender themselves as I did,I welcome Mr Okorocha to the club.”

The drama-loving former Ekiti State Governor drove to the EFCC office a day after stepping down from power, adorning a T-Shirt reading: “EFCC I am here”.

The commission had not hidden its plan to prosecute him for alleged economic crimes while in office. It’s officers laid siege to his house days before handover.

However, Fayose who had evaded arrest after his was impeached in his first term by allegedly hiding in the booth of a car, told the EFCC to await him at a specific time a day after handover.

It is not clear why he wants the commission to arrest and prosecute Amosun, who is rumoured to have acquired and built many gigantic personal houses in his eight years in office with public funds.

However, the call is believed to be a test of the commission’s fairness since Amosun is a known Ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The commission has always come under attacks for looking the other way when APC members and allies of President Buhari are accused of corruption.
