The Olu of Ibogun – Balogun in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Ifakayode Adeshina Faluade, has described the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams, as a colossus in the fields of social engineering, promotion of Yoruba culture and with monumental impacts on the Yoruba society and beyond.
Oba Faluade, who said this in a chat with newsmen during the conferment of the title in Oyo town, noted that Aare Adams was considered worthy of the honour by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba (Dr.) Olayiwola Lamidi Adeyemi, in recognition of his exemplary leadership quality, excellent contributions to the development of Yorubaland and meritorious service to mankind in general.
He further stressed that Adams eminently earned the honour of the Aare Ona Kakanfo title, more so that he had all along been an ambassador of Yoruba culture, a dogged defendant of the Yoruba cause and an achiever in every ramification whose whatever he ventured into had always become instant success story, stressing that he was optimistic that Otunba Adams’ occupation of the highly revered Yoruba title of the ‘Generalissimo’ was another milestone
The Ibogun monarch noted that from time immemorial, the Aare Ona Kakanfo title had always commanded high regards and the Alaafin must have heavily weighed the options and brought to bear a lot of socio-cultural standings of Otunba Adams’ track records.
Oba Faluade further noted that the honour was for Otunba Adams’ uncommon managerial skills and know-how to effectively transform operational challenges into opportunities for the growth and development of the Yoruba race in particular and Nigeria in general.
While sharing in Otunba Adams’ joy for the conferment, the monarch explained that he was particularly happy to identify with his landmark achievements, advising that he should, however, continue to champion the course of the Yorubas by promoting her culture and working assiduously for the unity and development of the Yoruba race.
“I felicitate with our dear Aare Ona Kakanfo, share in his joy and I am particularly happy to identify with his landmark achievements, while I enjoin him to continue to champion the course of the Yorubas, promote her culture and unity”, said Oba Faluade.
